SAM WHITE

His shirt is patterned, a loose check of intersecting white stripes. It is short sleeved. His rounded arms look fairly tanned, slightly hairy. His fingernails are pale and short. He has white shorts, exposing the hairy legs of a middle aged man that aren’t as tanned as his arms. He has a slight bald spot on his knee, but it could just as well be the appearance of a reflection. The legs aren’t overly fat or thin, there is a shape of a muscle visible, and his left leg gently tapers towards an ankle which is out of shot. The shorts on the left leg is obscured partly by his right knee and partly by her curved buttock. His shorts reach roughly 3 fifths of the way down his thigh. His face is obscured but just visible through her hair is a part of an ear. We can just see two pink fingers on his left hand reaching around the curve of her right buttock, but cannot tell if it is actually touching. He sits deep into the chair, legs apart. He appears overwhelmed by his companion, both in size and stance. Her hair is dark brown, with a slight hint of copper or brass where the light is reflected such as on the back of her head. It is tightly bound behind her head in a shiny, gold coloured band. After this the hair scatters out in a loose flume down her back, growing frizzier as it goes. The line of her hair runs roughly parallel to the strap of her top. Her skin is smooth and white, not especially tanned or pale. She has a tattoo on the back of her left shoulder, near the middle of the strap from her top. It is in the shape of a heart being pierced with an arrow, the sort fired with a bow. There is a feather in the base of the arrow, and the heart is done shapely with a flick to the right at the point of the heart. The arrow pierces the heart slightly from the lower right and exits out the space a little above middle left of the heart. There is no colour in it, the whole thing done in single shade of black or a dark blue. She is not slim but not overly large. I would guess her age to be of around 30, 35. She sits quite awkwardly on him, the vast bulk of her weight placed on and between his legs. Her feet go either side of him, pushed down into the single seat sofa. She lunges over him, tilting her head to her left to kiss him. Her left arm runs down and beside his neck and the side of his face, but coming to rest on the top of the back cushion of the sofa on which they are seated. The hand is loosely clenched, appears almost lazy. Beneath her left armpit we can see the elbow of her right arm, creased at the bend. We can assume her arm ends up behind his head, her hand possibly clasped around the top of his neck and the area around his left ear. Her legs are bent sharply at the knee, the top of the knee just matching the height of his left shoulder. She wears a two part outfit, all in the same dark pink pattern with whips of white breaking the colour up occasionally. It gives the clothes a patchy appearance. It is hard dot tell what kind of material it is made from, but it is very tight fitting. A section of her back is exposed between her top and her hot pant type shorts, which are quite similar to bathing shorts in their shape. Due to her stance they ride up high on her leg and lower down her back. His right arm reaches out and gropes the top a dark coloured drink (probably coke) with ice cubes at the top of the glass. He has not drunk more than a sip or two from the glass. The glass has a cut pattern at its base and is of average height, but being gently tipped towards the corner of the wooden table or cabinet on which it is placed. The wood is dark, shiny and varnished and the whole edge of the wood, roughly an inch thick, has been rounded. Discarded on top of the table beside the drink is a white box shaped like a packet of cigarettes, the top end slightly raised off the surface of the table by something outside the frame, possibly the lid. There is writing on the sides of the box but it cannot be read. It has a clear reflection in the shiny varnish of the wood. The chair they are on is a single seated sofa, dark orange in colour all over. It is of quite standard design, roll top arms lined gently of material of the same colour. It looks worn but not very old. We view the sofa from an angle slightly above the arm but below the headrest. The headrest ends just short of his head. The chair has its back flush against a white wall that runs the beyond the upper limits of the image, but ends roughly 6 tenths along the top edge. The wall is painted white but appears more of a grey. There is a slight gradient getting darker towards the right of the wall that is quite uniformed. The right edge of the wall intersects her a little above her back, at roughly the same spot the frizzy end of hair ends. Beyond the wall there is a section of dark shadow. It runs for roughly a fifth of the width of the total image. Little can be seen within it except a white line that runs parallel with the edge of the white wall before turning perpendicular and into it, but stopping just short of it. After the shadow begins a wall with a design consisting of thick, brown glossy lines running up and down its length. In between the lines there are flat tones of colour. The first section is the same as the second and fourth, a dark orange. The third is a lighter orangey/yellow colour. The colour combinations remind me of 1960 design now seen as tacky. Light is reflected, possibly from the camera flash, in the glossy edges of the lines that separate the colours, roughly halfway down the image. About a quarter of the way from the bottom the wall meets the floor. The floor is a dull grey colour with little texture but no shine. It is mostly obscured by a rug with a floral pattern of crèmes and reds.
